The Homestead Grays were located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They began in 1912 and survived for 38 seasons. The Grays entered the Negro National Leagues in 1935. In 1937 the Grays began to overpower the league. They went on to win 9 consecutive National Negro League championships and 3 Negro World Series titles. The Negro National League dissolved after 1948, but the Grays continued to play until 1950. During the 1930's and 1940's, the Grays played at the Pittsburgh Pirates' Forbes Field. However, when the Pirates were playing their they had to travel to Washington D.C. and play at the home of the Washington Senator's, Griffith Stadium. Some of the greatest players who played for the Grays are: "Vic Harris (OF), Jerry Benjamin (OF), Howard Easterling (3B), Luke Easter (OF, 1B) and Sam Bankhead."
